GSWS' 2025 Open Juried Exhibition will return to the D&R Greenway Land Trust this September. The D&R Greenway is dedicated to land conservation and environmental education, and they request that our exhibitions held in their space reflect a meaningful, environmentally relevant theme.

For this year's exhibition, we’re invited you, our members, to help select the theme! Thank You for your ideas for a title with a brief description explaining how the theme aligns with D&R Greenway’s mission or connects to the broader environmental context.  The winning entry This land is Your Land by Joanne Amantea, is this year's theme.  Inspired by the iconic folk song, we invite artists to explore their personal interpretations of what this phrase means today. Written by Woody Guthrie in 1940, the song reflects both the beauty and hardships of the American landscape and its people.

Artists are encouraged to reflect on their own connection to America’s land, water and ecosystems – whether through depictions of cherished landscapes, concerns about climate change, the incredible resilience of nature or the importance of land preservation. From sweeping vistas to intimate natural details this exhibition seeks to celebrate, question and honor the land that sustains us. How do you see this land? How do you express its beauty, fragility or transformation? Through watermedia, share your vision of what this land means to you.

The exhibit will run October 1 through the end of December. Online Entry will begin in July. 
There will be an art installation that runs along with the juried exhibition- to be announced soon.

The annual open juried exhibition is generally held once every calendar year. It is juried by a prominent water media artist for acceptance and later, that same juror will select awards in person. Our highest level award of achievement is the prestigious Dagmar Tribble Award. You may enter this show as a member or non-member. The open juried exhibition is open to watermedia artists over the age of 18 who reside in NJ, NY, PA or DE.

Douglas is the current President of the National Society of Painters in Casein & Acrylic, Inc. He has earned numerous awards and has featured articles in American Artist and The Artist’s Magazine. His paintings explore the beauty of the passage of time and the effects it has on objects and people.
